29th September 2026
Building on the success of previous years since its reintroduction, the 2026 Newbury Show on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September, brought tens of thousands of visitors together for a packed weekend celebrating farming, food, rural life and entertainment.
With the event spread across approximately 145 acres, the scale of the Newbury Show presents a significant logistical challenge. The 2026 programme featured more than 83 activities, alongside livestock, equestrian events, trade stands,
food outlets and major arena attractions.
For Excell Electrical, the job involved ensuring exhibitors had access to reliable and appropriately distributed power throughout the site. From individual trade stands and catering outlets to larger installations requiring higher-capacity distribution, the temporary electrical network was designed to meet the varied demands of the show, minimise generators numbers and increase efficiency, especially with regards to fuel usage. The system also had to accommodate the practical requirements of a busy agricultural event, with clear routes for visitors, livestock and vehicles.
Reliable power infrastructure was particularly important for the show's food and catering operation, where refrigeration, cooking equipment, lighting and other electrical appliances all need to operate continuously throughout the weekend.
This years show also introduced a number of headline attractions alongside its traditional agricultural programme. Among the highlights were the return of the JCB Dancing Diggers to the Main Ring for the first time in decades, while the British Scurry and Trials Driving National Championships made their Newbury Show debut. The British Lawn Mower Racing Association also returned with high-speed racing across both days.
We are proud to once again provide the temporary electrical infrastructure for the 2026 Newbury Show, helping keep exhibitors, caterers, entertainment areas and essential event facilities powered throughout the weekend.
