Excell once again had the honour of providing temporary power and distribution for all of the start line infrastructure for the iconic London Marathon which was held this year for the 45th time along the streets of the capital. Working with the organisers to continue the journey towards the target of net-zero emissions by 2030, this year we added additional battery storage, with one start line being solely powered from batteries negating the need for any running generators at that location. For the remaining generators on site, all fuel was HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) fuel rather than diesel. A switch which has already been in place for a number of years and has already reduced emissions of the event.
With power to all assembly areas, marquees and start lines, runners were able to enjoy the build up to the record breaking race with music, entertainment and refreshments from the moment they arrived. We also provided power to the hospitality area and athlete's village, ensuring that all elite racers we able to prepare for their event in comfort.
